Senior Citizen

Student

A student attending an academic institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education. Please obtain a student card and valid school certificate to update the appropriate profile on the Rav-Kav card.

The institution of study must be in an arrangement with the Ministry of Transport. You can check eligibility here.

Students who want to issue a Rav-Kav with a student profile, or update the profile with their personal Rav-Kav to a student profile, or extend the validity of their student profile and are entitled to it - are asked to do so in advance.

For this operation, you must go to one of the "Al Ha-Kav" centers of the Ministry of Transportation, the Egged service centers at Central Station or the CityPass service center near the Davidka station with ID card, and bring a valid printed study certificate or student certificate for the relevant institute year.

Please note:

* Charging student contracts (semester and annual) that are also valid for the light rail, is performed only at "Al Ha-Kav" centers and by the bus companies - Egged, Superbus and Lines (according to the relevant area).

* Accordingly, the definition of an "extended student" profile is also possible only with the above companies.

A student profile that is about to expire:

The light rail validator warns of Rav Kav cards whose profile is about to expire.

The alert is displayed so that when the card is validated, the orange (middle) light on the validator lights up and a message is displayed regarding the expiration of the profile along with a different alert sound.

The alert is displayed one month before the profile expires.

Please note that as long as the profile is valid it is possible to continue using contracts related to the same eligibility loaded on the card. However, with the expiration of the profile, these contracts can no longer be used.

The validity of the profile can be checked at any of the vending machines at the train stations.

Extended Student Pass

A student who has purchased a semester or annual travel contract. Please obtain a student card and valid school certificate to update the appropriate profile on the Rav-Kav card.

Youth (5-18)

Handicapped / Disabled

Soldiers

According to Ministry of Transportation directives, soldiers in mandatory military and career military service are obligated to validate their personal soldier identification upon entering the train. In addition, IDF soldiers traveling via light rail without uniforms on the weekend, from Friday mornings until final service Saturday evening after Shabbat ends, as well as the evening before holidays and the final service after holidays end, are eligible to travel free of charge -- but must validate their personal soldier card in the validation machines on board the light rail.

Reserve Soldiers

Soldiers on reserve duty may travel free of charge on their mobilization/discharge days by exchanging the voucher they received from the IDF for a Light Rail ticket. The conversion must be performed in advance of the relevant mobilization/discharge day at the CityPass service center.

Non-paid military service / pre-military cadets / national service / service year volunteers

Soldiers serving non-paid military service, persons enrolled in a six-monthly pre-military program, national service volunteers, and service year volunteers are entitled to travel free of charge, however, they are required to validate a Rav-Kav card on entering the Light Rail.

In order to update the profile, qualified passengers must visit the company that issued the Rav-Kav, change to the appropriate profile, and load the card with the special travel contract.
If a passenger is eligible but does not have a Rav-Kav card, a Rav-Kav card can be issued free of charge and loaded with the special travel contract in the CityPass Service Center or any other public transport operator.

Please note that non-paid military servicepersons, pre-military cadets, national service, and service year volunteers must validate their Rav-Kav card on every ride and immediately upon boarding. 

Police

Police and police force employees are exempt from payment on the Light Rail, on condition that they have in their possession a valid police / police force employee card.

Police are not required to have a Rav-Kav card and are not required to perform validation.

Knesset Members

Current and former Knesset members are entitled to travel free of charge in the Light Rail subject to validating the Rav-Kav card in their possession, which has been loaded with a special exempt contract. To load the special contract, eligible passengers must go to the company that issued the Rav-Kav card and present a Knesset member’s / former Knesset member’s card.

Blind / Visually Impaired

Persons with a certificate of blindness from the Ministry of Welfare, including an accompanying guide dog. Passengers who are visually impaired can choose between use of a Rav-Kav ticket with a profile that entitles them to travel free of charge or presenting a certificate of blindness for inspection on the train.

Blind Escort

A passenger who at the time of travel is accompanying a blind person travelling in Light Rail. This passenger is entitled to a discount of 50% on purchasing a single-trip paper ticket for a single ride. This ticket does not allow transfers to buses or additional trips.
The ticket is valid for the day of purchase only and can be used solely for a person accompanying a blind passenger on the Light Rail.
